The cleansing of a mage at the pyre is an important ritual in Davite tradition, enabling their tainted soul to rise up to join the Lord of the Springs.
However, the Holy Order holds the belief that the ashes of a cleansed mage can continue to provide anti-magic properties afterwards. Priests often collect the ashes once they cool in case they might be needed.
